BUHSD Update 12-11-20

BUHSD Families,

We have reached the final week of first semester. Final exams will be given on Thursday and Friday, December 17th and 18th, so please make sure your student has a quiet environment to complete those assessments. Also, if you have not completed the survey sent out by your student's school about second semester options, please do so ASAP.

Our Governing Board meeting scheduled for 6:30 pm on Monday, December 14th, has been moved to a virtual format consistent with Distance Learning at this time. If anyone would like to participate in the Call to the Public for this meeting, you may do so by emailing Call to the Public remarks to Leslie Doud at [email protected] by noon on Monday and the remarks will be read for you during the meeting. More details on how to submit those remarks, the link to watch the public stream of the meeting, and other information pertaining to Governing Board meetings can be found on the district website on the Governing Board page at https://www.buhsd.org/community/governing_board

As we continue to monitor the health benchmarks, with yesterday's posting on the school re-opening dashboard, our overall risk level remains at the "substantial" level. Specifically:

-      Cases: we had a decrease from 386.94 cases to 360.47 cases per 100,000 population;

-      Percent Positivity: this percentage increased from 13.05% to 16.04%;

-      Covid-like Illness: this benchmark increased from 7.7% to 9.1%.

As we go into winter break, we want to wish you and your family a safe, healthy, and restful couple of weeks! We look forward to 2021 and the new opportunities it will bring for our students.

Sincerely,

Rob Roberson

Interim Superintendent
