BUHSD Update

BUHSD Families,

As we near the end of first semester, there are a couple important things we would like to bring to your attention.

First, your student's school sent a survey out asking you to declare the learning modality option you want for your student second semester. If you could please complete this ASAP, it will help the schools in finalizing course schedules so we can have classes balanced and student schedules ready for January 4th.

For final exams on December 17th and 18th, we will follow a shortened schedule where students only take two exams per day. All final exams will be administered in the morning through a Distance Learning platform.

As we prepare for second semester, we continue to monitor the health department dashboard to determine when it is safe to return to hybrid learning as early as possible second semester, and eventually full in person learning for those who choose. With yesterday's posting on the school re-opening dashboard, our overall risk level remains at the "substantial" level.

Specifically:
-      Cases: we have had an increase from 269.73 cases to 386.94 cases per 100,000 population;
-      Percent Positivity: this percentage posted as 13.04% last week and 13.05% yesterday;
-      Covid-like Illness: this benchmark increased from 6.2% to 7.7%.

Again, we would appreciate it if you can get the survey for second semester options completed as soon as possible so that we can have a smooth start to second semester.

Sincerely,
Rob Roberson
Interim Superintendent
