BUHSD Update

BUHSD Families,

We want to again thank you and the students for a successful return to in-person learning for those who have chosen that option.  Students and staff following the mitigation strategies is an important part of that successful return.

Change of Learning Modality

We have two more weeks of school until spring break.  The first week of March, prior to spring break, you will be given the opportunity to change your students learning modality for the final quarter of the school year if you choose to do so (from Distance Learning to In-Person Learning or vice versa).

Governing Board Meeting

The Governing Board would like to thank those who took the time to fill out the survey regarding what they should be looking for in hiring the next district superintendent.  Your feedback is important.  The Board will hold a special meeting tonight at 6:30 pm to discuss the next steps in the hiring process for the 2021-22 academic year.  More information and a link to view the meeting can be found on the community page of the district website (www.buhsd.org).  The results of the survey are also available on that page.

Health Benchmarks

We are continuing to monitor the data on the county school dashboard.  As of yesterday’s posting, our overall risk level remains at the “substantial” level with the recommended learning scenario being “Prepare for Virtual with On-Site Support”.  Specifically:

Cases: we had a decrease from 892.36 cases to 374.34 cases per 100,000 population;
Percent Positivity: this percentage decreased from 19.68% to 14.05%;
Covid-like Illness: this benchmark decreased from 7.4% to 5.1%.

Whether attending school in-person, through distance learning, or through online learning, our staff is here to support your student through their educational journey.

Sincerely,

Rob Roberson
Interim Superintendent
