BUHSD Distance Learning Meal Program

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will there be meals available for my student for school year 2020-21?Yes.The Distance Learning Meal Program will begin on August 5, 2020.
  2. What time is lunch?Lunch will be available between 10:45 – 11:45 am on school days.
  3. Who can get a meal beginning on August 5th?The student must be registered student at one of the district’s four high schools to be eligible to obtain a meal.
  4. Is it any student at or under the age of 18? No.Unfortunately, there are different federal rules that govern the school year meal program.The student must be registered at one of BUHSD’s high schools to be eligible for a meal.
  5. What about siblings of my high school student that attend elementary schools in the area.Can they get a meal from BUHSD?Unfortunately, no.The federal rules are very specific and require the student to be a student enrolled in one of the BUHSD high schools to be eligible.
  6. How much are the meals?Breakfasts are free for all BUHSD students.Lunch prices follow the normal school year pricing of $3.00 for paid students, $0.40 for reduced meal eligible students, and $0 for free meal eligible students.
  7. How can I apply for the Free & Reduced Lunch program?You can apply by visiting the www.buhsd.org website or by clicking this link https://www.nlappscloud.com/Welcome.aspx?api=478660a37abad10ae1903ddb9dec8abb#loaded.There is an on-line form so that your application can be processed quickly.Paper copies of the meal application are also available.Please contact (623) 327-2284 to get more information.
  8. Can I pay for a meal at the meal pick-up locations?No.Because we do not have the full functionality of our computer system to account for funds taken it at remote locations, and we must account for each meal purchased by student individually, the account needs to be pre-populated with the funds prior to meal being given out.
  9. How can I put money on my student’s account?There are 3 ways to do this.

    1.  You can visit www.buhsd.org or click on this link to put money on your student’s account. https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/getmain?requestAction=home 

    2.  You can also come to one of the 4 school site meal locations during mealtime to put money on your student’s account. 

    3.  You can give a check or cash to one of our servers at the 21 remote meal locations.  An envelope will be provided for you to put the check or cash in.  Please record your student’s name and ID number on the envelope.  The money will be brought back to the cafeteria staff and be put on your student’s account where we have full functionality to credit accounts.  Ask your remote meal locations server for more information.

  10. Where can my student get a meal?Students will be able to pick-up meal at any of our 4 campuses or at one of our 21 remote meal locations listed here.

  11. How were the remote meal locations chosen?The district attempted to locate the 21 remote meal options in areas that either had a higher concentration of student population or were within a 15-minute drive time from student’s homes.This was difficult to do because the district encompasses 1,200 square miles and we don’t have the or vehicles to do more than 21 remote locations.
  12. What do I need to bring with me to pick-up a meal?The student will need his/her student ID or give his/her ID number to the meal server.
  13. Does the student have to be present?No.A parent or guardian can pick-up the meal, as long as they have the student’s ID card or the ID number.
  14. What will be served for lunch?Each day, the student would receive a breakfast and lunch during the lunch mealtime.Breakfast items will be things such as Cinnamon Toast Crunch, mini pancakes, and bagel and cream cheese.The lunch will be items such as sandwiches or wraps with vegetables/fruits and milk or juice.
